I take it these are on and off symptoms? And get worse on occasions like now.

Why don't you go to a Chemist and ask them to talk it through with you, what a yeast infection is, what you can take to see if it clears without seeing a Doctor first.

You technically are getting advice from someone in the know, without being looked at which may be your fear.

1 Year is a long time though to go through this and you may have caused more damage by non-treatment, i would hassed at a guess you will be told to go and see a Doctor as well.

But, at least you will get to know what happens and try something that may ease it whilst you get your head around seeing a specialist.

I hate dentists but what can you do? I hate needles.

Why don't you just buy the Monistat over the counter or is this something more than the usual yeast infections? I also became extremely swollen at one point and incredibly itchy but the doctor gave me the same stuff as the OTC and it cleared up. The thing is you can pass it back and forth between your husband so he has to use it also. (Men get jock itch which is yeast also) What also helped was a vinegar and water douche once in a while but not to often.
