I had primary ovarian failure at age 20, and I have been on HRT ever since. I am now 63. Has anyone experienced HRT for 43 years? Twice, I have tried to go off, and twice the symptoms were too much, so I went back on. I am now on Prempro and wonder whether I'll be on this my whole life. My doctor seems to feel that if nothing bad has happened to me from taking HRT for 43 years, then nothing will. What do you think?

I did do some reading up on it based on people's personal experiences and the most I found was 10 years on it, not 43, wow that's a long time.
I firstly thing your body would be used to this drug and so it's always hard to ween yourself off of any drug, I suggest that is what your Doctor is thinking, and his statement. From what I read, there is a much lower dosage and some tried that to ween themselve off and was successful... Can I suggest that you ask your Doctor of that as a posibility if you no longer need them or want to take them? Good luck and welcome to the Forum. CW
