I posted a thread over under Menstrual cycles but I thought I would come here also! I'm 49 and I thought that I would have started my period on the 11th of Dec. We were on a trip and I didn't start but I also haven't started since returning back home. My husband and I have used the same protection (condoms) for 15 years. I do occassionaly have night sweats. My mom says that she didn't start menopause until she was around 53 or 55. Could I be starting early?

Forty Nine is about right to start missing periods.
    I adore menopause.
    It's so freeing.

49 is definitely not too young to be experiencing menopause. I too agree that it will be wonderful when the whole mess is over. I'm 44 and experiencing the same. Good Luck!

I know a woman has to go at least a year with no period...for menopause
I went several mo's with no period...but wham it hit me! Now I'm dealing with a period for a couple of weeks at a time! I feel like I'm making up for the time I had no period. I'm 45 yrs old and my hormones are all out of wack!

I have a friend that is 53 years old. When she was 25 years old she went throu menopause. That is not normal but happens sometimes so you are ok in your time of life.

yes I to am going through the change of life as they put it, and yet I am still taking the pill at 42 I to have had the scare of thinking that I was pregnant at times cause of missed periods, I can go for months with out a period even on the pill and then all of a sudden WAM! it will show up with either a vengenance or barely nothing at all, I also have other symptoms of the change of life its tuff I know but just remember this we are not getting older we are just getting better.

It is approximately the age where you can experience the menopause.I am not sure about your condition better consult your physician.

It is possible to get pregnant even though you say your using condoms - especially if you are using condoms , even more likely . I only use condoms im 40 ...no children but plan to . You can get pregnant when you are having symptoms of the menopause right through until everything stops .
There is a ady in my road who went to Ireland (over 50) for a vacation and came back pregnant ...blamed it on the guinness !!! good for her i think thats wonderful.
I wouldstop this worry now and go and see a dr stright away or buy a pregnancy test ...if you are pregnant you will neeed to be scanned and have some tests , from the beginning, it would be dangerous not to . Good luck and congrats if your pregnant .
