Thread: Newbie saying hello

Hi everyone,firstly what a great website!! Stumbled across this one while searching for info on menopause.
I'm 39yrs old and was diagnosed as being Menopausal last week after blood tests. What a shock!! My hormone levels were through the roof (apparently). My only symptom was erratic bleeding lasting up to 3 weeks then stopping for about 4/5 days and starting over again, this has been going on for the past 6mths. So when I finally had enough and went to the Dr, he did immediate blood tests,pap smear and swabs and sent me for ultrasound to find the cause. I was thinking fibroids or worse,cancer. How wrong I was. Menopause. All tests came back fine except the blood tests. Still have yet to see a Specialist Gyno for plan of treatment.Would be great if they could stop the lengthy periods.
Oh, and I did have weight gain,sore boobs(but they grew a cup size,lol), hot flashes and trouble sleeping, I just didn't realize they were symptoms and fobbed them off. I always thought the start of menopause was when your periods got less and less and further apart, not closer together and bleeding for weeks on end. So I want to know, how long is this going to last???? It's driving me and more so hubby nuts
Anyway,enough said, I'm looking forward to meeting other forum members in similar predicaments.
