Thyroid can cause your body's thermometer to get out of wack.
Wondering if anyone else has symptoms like this?
It is a horrible feeling and my emotions can make it come on as well.
Example: Our son called and said he had been in an auto accident and
immediately my skin was on fire with the crawling ant feeling.
I don't really get what I would call the "Hot Flashes" as I am always hot and
sweaty while everyone else is freezing.
Please let me know if you or anyone you know experiences anything like
this.

I think the nervous system can affect this.
You may find stress/nerves are causing your body temperature rise.
Love isn't about finding the perfect person, but learning to see an imperfect person perfectly <3
Feeling hot all the time and "ants crawling" are separate issues. Like mentioned before thyroid problems like hyperthyroidism can cause overall body temperatures to be higher than normal (I have the opposite which is hypothyroidism so I am always cold). Obvious anxiety will cause your skin to "crawl", just gotta take a breather and try to stay calm in stressful situations.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
I also get the "ants" crawling under my skin. Always on just the one spot just between my shoulder blade and nape of my neck. It's happening as I type. Hot flushes, well, I have Graves Disease so my temp. is probably higher than it should be but I find Summer, as it is in Australia right now, makes the hot flushes far worse. It's currently 12.30 and I've been up since 5.30 and I would say I've had at least a dozen hot flushes already today.
But at least they aren't quite as severe as they were 5 years ago.
Thanks for the replys..
Im wondering If I didnt explain myself very well..Im 47 going through menopause and wodering if Im the only person that experiences this.
I am do have hypothyroid and my normal temp is around 97.0 give or take a little.
I spend a major part of my time being hot and sweaty even when others are cold..
And aside from that I have these VERY ICKY SPELLS where my skin feels VERY Burnt
and it feels like bugs are crawling on it.. The best way I describe it to my hubby is "I have the hebee gebee's" they are so bad they almost make me feel sick. They remind me of someone having withdrawls from herion or something!
Also if something bad happens and I get upset, that will bring it on instantly.
So anyone else have anything like this happening?? Do you think it is part of menopause??
I Would really like and appreciate your thoughts on this..
Thanks Ladies

I suspect it is. But it's impossible to know without tests.
I blame everything on menopause. And I'm probably right! Sorry for the levity in what is a serious subject.
I have recently had a similar sensation, am also hypothyroid and 43 y.o. I am also very itchy all over and am wondering now if the symptoms are related to gallstones. I have a few but they have been asymptomatic otherwise (the stones can cause bile buildup which then gets released through the skin - I read this online and am not sure how reliable it is but seems to fit my symptoms). Initially, I thought the crawling/itchy sensation was dry skin but am now sure it is not. I am drinking lots of water, getting fresh air and waiting a week or two to see if I need to go to gastroenterologist. It would be great to know how the 'skin crawling' feeling evolves for you so please keep me posted. I too am not ruling out perimenopausal causes. I had my left ovary removed a year ago because of a benign but uncomfortable cyst and believe that it has accelerated menopause onset.
I do have hypothyroidism and gallstones.. even though my body feels so hot and I have these "spells" that make me feel so sick, my body temp is only around 97 most of time.
I was really hoping to find out if anyone else experiences these "spells" and if they think it is related to menopause??
Thanks All..

Hi Tammy,
I am presently experiencing the same thing as you have for about five months now- around my ribcage. It is not as bad as it once was- it comes and it goes. I have been to the doctor many times, and have many blood tests etc. I am hypothyroid and have been on medication for about 12 years- and I did have my blood checked if anything changed, and it was fine. So I do think it menopause related( I am 51 and other symptoms have developed). I honestly have thought I was going crazy( and I am sure my doctor thinks I am too!), but I have read that other women have experienced this too, which gives me a sense of relief. I am on all sorts of vitamins, trying to get more exercise etc. and trying not to over stress myself with too many things on my plate. If any one out there has had the same thing , I too, sure would appreciate hearing about it ANd if it eventually goes away. I also have had a very stiff neck, and difficulty swallowing- this also is an off thing. It is frustrating- I am sure it menopause related.
