I am 50 years old, been married to a wonderful man for the past 18 years. I had a total hysterectomy in 2000. Since then I have no desire for sexual relations. I have vaginal dryness, sex is uncomfortable (hurts a bit) and it is ruining my relationship. Anyone else out there have this problem or does anyone have any suggetions.
You should see your ob/gyn. My BF is in a similar situation, having had a hysterectomy and loss of libido, dryness. Her Dr. suggested estrogen, which my friend declined. She gave her something to apply vaginally for the dryness. Reading those silly romance novels helps, gets you thinking subconsciously about sex. My Dr. suggested 'theme nights'. Have sex one night where everything is red - flowers, candles, nightgown. Some of my friends say Viagra helps them, too! Personally, at this age, I think we should be left alone and the man that created Viagra should be shot and hung, not necessarily in that order. I totally understand why men leave and marry younger women at this point, and all I can say is Godspeed.
