The level that you are quoting is quite high, so it could indicate the onset of menopause. You doctor should be able to interpret your FSH and other health indicators to tell you for sure.
Hi, I'm 46 and just had my FSH level tested. It was 85.5 could I be in menopause? I haven't had a period for 4 months. What else could cause my FSH to be high?

Thanks, Yes the research I have done would indicate menopause. I was wondering if anyone else is going through this same thing? Has anyone had a high FSH level that your doctor said you were menopausal? What was your FSH level? Only a year ago my FSH level was a 6. Now its 85.5. Can it go up that much in a year? My doctor told me 6 months ago that one of my ovaries has shrunk.
46 is not too early for Menopause and while I'm not a doctor is not the FSH the signal that tells your ovaries to produce Estradiol? So, if your ability to produce is going away (Menopause) the FSH would be very high? BTW DO read up on Hormone replacement and give a thought to Bioidenticals. Its working great for me.
