I'm 42, have had horribly heavy, but fairly regular periods for the last few years until about a year or 2 ago when they became lighter after an annual pap. (I wonder if she scraped a pollup or something - whatever it was, I was thrilled for a long time after that!) Then over time they got a little heavier and now last month it was wonderfully light (yea!). I kept waiting for it to really happen and then it was just gone. Now this month is starting off very light also and I'm wondering if this is finally the beginnning of the end. Please say it's so!! We will prepare a celebration - Me, Myself, and I - we will celebrate the end of Aunt Flow!!

Hi Salinwa.
Sounds like you are probably in perimenopause, when your periods can become irregular and can be different from month to month. You have to have no periods for 12 months straight to be considered in menopause. Check with your doctor to be sure. I love your attitude. I hope I'll feel the same way when my time comes. Ali
