    Hi,
I have been suffering badly from menopause symptoms for quiet some time. At 38 [im now 48] i was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I never felt this was my problem and could not accept that is what was wrong. Finally after 3 years of been bed ridden they discovered my ferritin in my iron studies was quiet low. Treatment for this had me been able to have showers on my own etc within 3 months. I still didnt feel that was the only problem i had and all doctors i asked to do hormone testing for menopause refused saying i was to young and still having normal periods. Finally after another 3 years i got a doctor who did the tests. I had been in menopause for quiet a while. They put me on HRT and within a short time i was planning holidays etc for the first time in 6 years. I was starting to feel quiet good. Blood tests then revealed that my liver readings werent the best so the HRT had to go. I havent had a period for 2 years now and i was doing ok until about 6 months ago and slowly things have fallen apart on me. I have so many of the symptoms that life is once again a misery. I have tried several different things and nothing works. Anti depressants do the opposite of what they should and any vitamin and mineral supplements did nothing at all. My biggest problems are depression/crying/anxiety, sore mouth such as pain and stinging and slight swelling that comes and goes in different parts of the mouth, sore gums. [ i have tried different mouth washes and they feel like they are burning my mouth and made it worse and i also have had dental treatment to fix all my teeth] I dont think the dentist or doctor "get it" as to how bad my mouth feels even after telling them] I feel if i can get the depression and the mouth problems sorted that i could handle the rest. Any suggestions on what i might be able to try now would be most welcome.

Do you smoke? I'm only asking due to swelling that you mention in your mouth.

How do you sleep at night, what time do you go to bed and get up and have you tried polities?

I had fibromyalgia which triggered IBS and there was also cronic fatique this was 12 years ago, I was way depressed I also suffer from peridontitis disease which sucks but that's life it's only teeth...

So I may be able to relate or help some what with a bit more info plus I'm 48 and plus I'm an Aussie

    Hi Chandlers Wish,
    Thanks for replying.
Yes i am a smoker, i do have good intentions of giving up at times but never have. I do intend to smoke more when im stressed and i stress over my mouth. So around in circles i go with that. Dont scream at this but its like i use it for a comfort thing. I think i get dry mouth?? So i guess if i do smoking wouldnt be helping with that. I do know the other week i was bending forward doing something and i dribbled out of my mouth and got all happy about that That doesnt happen very often with me.
My sleeping is way out of whack, no routine to it what so ever. I have nights when i feel totally awake and go to bed after 2am and crawl out about 8am feeling wrecked.
I find when my hormones are really bad i get aches and pains in my joints. I have 2 names for my pains. The "normal pains" and "hormonal pain". With me there seems to be a difference in the feel of the pain. Got a whole host of other symptoms but if i can just sort the mouth and depression out i feel i can then be able to cope with the others. I have also been under a lot of stress [not hormone related] the last 12 months, i gather that wouldnt be helping neither.

    Ok

Well, firstly...Your dentists are like mine was, never gave the lessons in life You either have gingivitus, or worse the early stages of peridontitis but I am also thinking shoguns disease and If i have spelt it wrong? I'll find out and correct that.

Shoguns disease is poor lubrication, in the mouth, in the eyes and smoking causes ulcers, sore gums, sore eyes ...gingivitus is bleeding gums and sore gums, peridontitis is receeding gums and swollen gums..

Do you suffer from sore eyes and red eyes as well? Allergies of dust, fleas, air conditioning? Irritating eyes?

You know that we all smoke for comfort but get mad when we need the next fix Buy a quit smoking from Allan Carr, it did work for me, it's so clever but then I separated and needed more

I know that feeling... but cigarettes if our body is down with any of this makes the gums worse so seriously, like me, you have to do something about that.

Do you think alot? Sorry, but do you have a couple of glasses of wine? For me, it's easy now I have a diabetic dog up at 6am regardless so in bed most times early...If I stay up I can't focus and feel a bit down.

It sounds like you are not working anymore? Up at 8am...The depression may be from not getting on with life, you are only young like me mam... What hobbies do you have? You need to start a routine of sorts that gives you some "me time" that you enjoy and maybe a hobbie, I found here and look at me:P

    Ghaa continue it posted..

I think your fatique is coming from lack of sleep and lack of living.

I walk 20 mins a day it really helps, stretching helps as well, finding a hobbie for me gardening....

What is happening in your life, married, working, children, hobbies?

It sounds as if you are drifting and existing have problems that no one is diagnosing so you get depressed more rightly so....

I work in real estate and add this forum and my fiance and diabetic dog, rabbits, another two dogs, another forum, all with fibro and ibs at times, if I can do it you can.

Your really know where im coming from Yes the dentist has said i have gum disease. I have asked a doctor about Sjogren's syndrome cause i do have problems with my eyes at times and the mouth probs etc. Apparently there isnt a test to confirm if someone has it but they go by symptoms and bloods tests for ESR for inflammation. I was then told that " There is nothing to indicate you do or dont have it" and nothing more was said or done about it. The ESR blood test was slightly high. The dentist has said i have gum disease so i assume i must have peridontitis as my gums dont bleed but are sore and swollen. I do have another appointment with him in 2 weeks time.
I do have a hobby, i am tracing my family tree on both sides of my family and loving every minute of that. No im not working at the moment. I was working up until i got sick and at the moment im just managing to keep the house and garden up on my own as hubby works away and is gone for a few weeks at a time.
I wasnt going out anywhere on my own or i would have panic attacks so if i went anywhere someone was always with me, im slowly trying to get that under control and am now driving to the corner shop a couple of block away on my own. Not a big deal to most people but one step forward for me tho.
When i was on HRT's all these problems went away so now i cant take it i have to find other ways to deal with it.
Im going to check out Pilates and will check out the book from Alan Carr.
Thanks for the encouragement [if I can do it you can] Sometimes i need to hear that, reminds me other people have been there and its possible to move on.

I will ask my fiance about sjogren's syndrome He has that and smoking no, drinking only lightly, air con, nup, pets only short haired what else I don't know but he's got it going pretty good and he started the gym as well although he's at a good weight.

I went through the first symptoms of meno as I went off the pill when I met him, phew having periods again But I don't know if that is anything other than 1) mood swings but also when happy it seems you can over come that alot together with walking...

Maybe try for a volunteer job? Animals, elderly something that gives love?

You would also be stressing over your other half not being there for weeks that would create anxiety as you have things to deal with and need support who else is there for you? Friends? Family?

Do both polites and Alan Carr trust me, walk as well every day, feel the earth plant a plant a day, smile when you see it grow, you can do this I know you can

Two books I can recommend: The Hormone Diet and The Wisdom of Menopause. I think you will find some of your answers there.

With peridontitis as long as they do a deep clean (go beyond the gums) every 3 months on each side of your mouth, top and bottom they can generally get things back to a good state, if you leave it you will have severe bone loss and from what I can gather you can not do anything about it, as nothing will attach to create new teath... So you need someone whom specialises as a perioontitis dentist.

Fiance is working But, chronic fatigue does create other problems, it triggers fibroymyalgia and can also trigger myofacical pain which is soreness of muscles that causes pain and also tightens joint muscles, google a bit about that as well You can also get IBS, as your whole body stresses out over everything so does your stomach/bowels...

It's the stress you have to focus on it really bounces everything around and makes you smoke more naturally...
