Default Now this is awful!

I know that I have started perimenopause and I can handle that. I don't think I am going to mind the hot flashes and such so much.

But my periods are now driving me CRAZY!!!

I am still having them regularly but the flow is just nuts. Here I am, up and on my computer at 5:00 in the morning on a weekend because - for the first time IN MY LIFE - not only did I soak my tampon through, but I also soaked my undies, the sweatpants that I was smart enough to put on before I went to bed AND the sheets on the bed!!

Is there a general timeline for how long this part of this lasts?

Wow!

Maybe you need a back-up sanitary napkin for your tampon????
I hate when it soaks through to your sheets ... what a pain! I don't know of any timelines... but I'm sure it will cease (just don't know when).

Hold on to the rollercoaster ride that is called, "menopause".
It's one thing after another.

Thumbs up this is awful

I know how you feel and i wish they would end for me too i have been back and forth from hospital having fibroids removed i don't know if you know anything much about these but they cause heavy bleeding so go and have a word with your doctor your doctor will then send you for a scan to see if you have them.Touch would i have been fine since the last one was removed so it was fibroids that caused heavy bleeding for me.

Hello LilacDragon-
I too feel your pain. The hot flashes all day long. Actually, I prefer to refer to them as "My personal summers" or "My intimate heatwaves". It's just not humane! For me my flow is really really heavy the first few days. Then it begins to wane to just heavy, for a few more days. Then I can look forward to a few medium to light flow days before it's all over. I have to use both tampons and pads. It's like pregnancy, menopause is different for everyone. I posted a thread "Tampon Blues" over in the sex forum. I received some great feedback. Do you have BIG clots with your cycle? If so, you may want to explore the cause with your physician.

Default heavy bleeding suggestion

An idea is instead of wearing tampons is to use the "Diva Cup", i had to switch to this for the same reason, I had to set the alarm and wake up 1 or 2 times in night to change my tampon, but now I use this cup.....and love it. It's medical grade silicone cup you fold, insert, and it opens and holds an ounce or so. It's a great solution. Hope it works for you too.
My only problem now is too many periods. They're still heavy and I will stop my period, and then start the next one 1-2 weeks later. My herbalist made suggestions and it helped when I first started 2 yrs ago at age 37. Had it"under control" and now at 39 it seems all is breaking loose again!Extreme hot and cold flashes, weight gain (I'm a very active runner and fitness lover), depression swings, and with all these periods I feel PMSie all the time!!
Any suggestions out there for too many periods???????

Default heavy periods

Wow. I thought I was the only one that had to set an alarm every hour/then every couple hours so that I didn't go through the super plus tampons at night. During the day I go bathroom every 45 mins the first day. I feel like my periods are back 30 years from when I first started. They were super heavy then, too.
