Hi,
I'm new to the forum, and I turn to you in hope of advice and information. I had a total hysterectomy 4.5 years ago, and HRT tablets, patches and creams/gels have side effects with me and they put me on implants....which result in a bi-annual rollercoaster ride of tired, emotional and menopausal symptoms. I also have some bone thinning, which means they won't take me off HRT and allow me to go through menopause! I am due my implant in 2 days, and I have just had notice from the hospital to say that the implants have been discontinued!!! Does anyone have information as to the reasons? Thank you so much for ANY help you can give!!

There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
According to netdoctor UK: "However, in December 2003, a review of the available evidence on the risks and benefits of HRT by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) in the UK, concluded that the risks of using HRT long-term to prevent osteoporosis in women aged over 50 years exceed the benefits." It may be that they are eliminating implants because they feel that they now have medicines that can prevent osteoporosis without the side effects.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
