Question Perimenopausal?

Hi Ladies!

I found this site by chance and I love it! I have a question...I am 44 and I had a partial hysterectomy at 40 (left 1 ovary in) and am now experiencing some symptoms that make me think I may be peri-menopausal. I have extremely tender breasts, especially my nipples. They seem to stay hard and are tender to even the slightest touch. I also have had some other symptom such as vaginal dryness, difficulty sleeping and lack of sex drive. Has anyone had a partial hysterectomy and if so how long after that did your ovary stop producing homones sending you into menopause? Also did you have any other problems due to leaving one or both ovaries in? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! I also would like any info on holistic approaches to menopause and it's symptoms!

Thank you!

Never had a hysterectomy, but your symptoms do sound peri-menopausal.

I get very similar symptoms, with the hot-flashes, night sweats... moodiness...

I just try to keep some water with me for those hot-flashes; try to keep a towel handy for the night sweats (it's like I was doused with a bucket of water!)

I hear soy-products are helpful for the hot-flashes; but you have to be careful with them.
I think I'm going to replace my ususal milk with soy milk... regular milk bothers my system now.

It does sound as though some of the symptoms you describe are from hormonal inbalances. I used to experience severe perimenapausal symtpoms until I started using a natural progesterone creme. I learned how to use this balancing creme from information I found at Dr. John Lee's website. Prior to his death two years ago he completed extensive studies with women and men and natural balancing hormones. Hormonal imbalances can affect your moods, weight, sleep patterns, sex drive and so many other things. His website is Official Web Site of John R. Lee, M.D. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the information you found at his site. I ordered one of his books about how to effectively use natural hormones. It was a tremdous help.
