    Default Constant sweating

Hi, I am 59 years old and am in menopause for almost 10 years. I have had just a few hot flashes, but my biggest problem is I'm always hot and sweating. Not so much in the winter, but the summer is the worst. The sweat will pour down my head and neck and body even when I'm sitting still. After a cool shower, I start sweating again in about 15 minutes. If I go outside, I sweat with very little exertion, and if I do a lot of physical work, I feel dizzy, lightheaded, and get headaches. Is this just from menopause, or is it something else? Thanks for any info

Hi MDSAGIRL, welcome to our Forum.

I think that some women get it harder than others. Hot flashes, can be mild or they can go to the extreme, by way of excessive sweating.

The loss of estrogen is the problem. I would suggest you attend the Doctors and get a blood test to determine the level of estrogen in your body and follow their advice, of replacement of same.

We, as women should not have to go through this alone. If you don't want to take drugs and I fully understand that, seek alternatives available at Health Shops.

    Welcome.

I was wondering if you've always sweated a lot or if it started after menopause. Some people are naturally sweaty. I sweat pretty good in the winter...forget about summer. I was just sitting on the couch under a fan the other day and when I stood up you probably could have wrung out the pillow. There can be an up side. Heat, even very extreme heat, does not bother me, besides the discomfort of being soaking wet. It got +100 F and very humid during a heat wave we had here and while everyone else was miserable sitting under an air conditioner or in a pool, I was riding my bike enjoying the day and lifting weights in my home without ever cutting on my air.

Whatever the culprit, you absolutely have to drink a lot of water. Dehydration can happen very quickly and can account for the dizziness and headaches.

Hi,thanks for the response, I only started sweating like this after menopause, so I guess it looks like I should get some kind of estrogen replacement. I would rather try the health food stores first to see if they have something that works.
