Heya,
This isn't an ad, just something useful for anyone after 5htp in Australia. I sourced some for somebody. It's a pain to find, most of the health shops don't sell it because they're under the mistaken impression that it's illegal. There was a scare with a supply of the stuff years ago that turned out to be a function of the lab, not the extract itself, these days you're expected to have had a consultation with a health professional before you buy it but there's no enforcement.
ANYWAY - 5-HTP,
They have 100mg and ship from within Australia.

Hmm. Seems I can't include an outbound link. Well the place is called Evidencia anyway. Google it, or just use the most obvious Australian URL for that name.

Hi Ladies,
PMDD is caused by estrogen dominance. Natural progesterone is the solution - it has saved my life!! I suffered from PMDD to the extreme of wanting to commit suicide. Doctor after doctor which most thought I was crazy, I finally through my own reasearch figured it out and then found a wonderful doctor who also knew what was happening. We have a mutual relationship and she works with me (open midedly - while backed up with education and her experience) to create the correct balance. Once I started taking the "right" dose of progesterone all the PMDD symptoms disappeared. At first I was on too low of a dose to make an impact. My current dose is 600 mg taken day 14-28 and the rest of the month I am on 300mg. I am extremely deficient.
You really don't have to live this way anymore...and No you are not crazy - just a hormonal imbalance which you can treat naturally and restore yourself to a normal life!! It is truly amazing~
Best wishes to you all who struggle!! I was there not too long ago.

My anger and irritablitity are severe. I am a different person, I can even feel it. I know i'm not right, i am constantly angry and ready to blow. and when i blow, i go into a RAGE. screaming and yelling and I never act like this at any other time of the month. always the week before my period I become a maniac. My personality changes. the shame and regret after these episodes is almost unbearable. I wish i could disappear for that 5 days every month. l already take medications that should be handling this. I am fine the rest of the time, but for 5 days a month I am literally someone else. someone awful.

Sweetbabynrs,
I went through the same thing myself. It was like Jeckyl and Hyde syndrome. This monster appeared every month and even though I knew it was hormonal and very specifically linked to my cycle, I could not stop it!! The good news is there is a easy, inexpensive fix. Natural progesterone will take away these symptoms. Finding the correct dose for yourself takes a little trial and error, but once you get it sorted out, it is just fabulous. Research it - there are places to order it online without a prescription and I am telling you it saved my life!! I was having suicidal ideation and I went through doctor after doctor that didn't know what to do - or they would say maybe you need anti-depressant! If I am depressed why is it cyclical with my period?? Wouldn't I be depressed all the time? THATS ALL JUST !! I take several vitamin/minerals to help support my body, but the most important component has been the natural progesterone - no more PMDD! In fact I feel more relaxed and peacful than I have in more years than I can count! Good Luck - you can take back control of your life!!

I am 21 years old. I am so young. After the deaths/tragedies I've been through since I was 16 I got prescribed 5 different types of medication. ADHD ( 2 types), anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, and sleeping meds. Even though i got my period when i was 16 I did not notice PMDD signs, probably because of all the other diseases and medications I was on. When i got sick of being on the highest dosage of Celexa (anti-depressant) 60 mg, i quit cold turkey not telling anyone. After that I was doing okay without anti-depressants, until i started noticing some of the worst depression/anxiety for NO reason about 7-10 days before my period. So bad that I didnt want to kill myself, but I didn't want to "be." I have noooooo idea why I get so depressed before my period, in addition to alll the other diseases im dealing with. My therapist, plus commercials on TV helped me realize that I actually did have this rare disease in addition to everyting else. I mean only 3 % of women get PMDD and I have it. I went back on anti-depressants, Cymbalta 30 mg, the lowest dosage, purely to help treat the PMDD. For young people, how do you imagine going through the rest of your life having almost 10 days of PMDD plus 5 days of period, meaning half of every month is /unpredictable and none of friends understand. They feel bad, but they don't get it. Besides anxiety i would say PMDD is the hardest thing to get through. I didn't even re-read what I wrote, said had to write how i was feeling. thanks for listening.

I have been reading this thread for some time now and i think is time to post about my experience. I have suffered with pmdd ever since i can remember, for many years I didn't know what was wrong with me, until I got married at 23 and my husband said he would have to divorce me if i did not get help. I was diagnosed in the first visit, the doctor put me on prozac and it help somewhat until it did not work anymore. I've tried several types of birth control, wellbutrin and xanax but I was still going crazy for a few days every month. finally at 33 after i had a baby my doctor put me on a combination of yaz, zoloft and daily b12.
My life has started since the day I started taking those meds. I feel like the happiest woman in the world ,i'm able to enjoy my child my marriage and even my job for the first time ever. My mood has leveled to the point that people that never knew i had pmdd asks me what's going on. please dont give up keep looking for what works for you.

Ladies that are suffering with PMDD - it is because of hormonal imbalance. You are fooling yourself if you think taking synthetic hormones is curing the problem. They are very dangerous to your health. Trust me I know from being on them for 20 years. Oral contraceptives deplete your body of minerals and vitamins - which over time causes depression and many other less than desirable symptoms, put you at an extreme risk for breast cancer, gallbladder disease, liver disease, PERMANENT damage to your libido. This is a small list....THE DRUG COMPANIES ARE POISONING US!! All in the name of the almighty dollar!! No one has stopped them...but we do have choices. Over 12Million ladies are taking the BCP/Patch/Shots for all sorts of reasons and I am telling you you can choose natural methods instead of putting these toxic, carcinogenic pollutants in your body. It is not natural to suppress ovulation - it takes away from your womanly essence and natural being. Not to mention it comes at a very high price your health. All the little ailments you have, take a closer look and you might find out the truth! High cholesterol? thyroid problems? Fatigue? Depression? Moodiness? Digestive problems? Lack of Libido? Weight Loss/Gain? Larger breasts? Migraines? Gallbladder Disorder? Yeast overgrowth and infection? Should I keep going?
I have been off BC for 1 year and 3 months and I have had an uphill journey with my health due to taking the BCP for all those years. I will never take that garbage again and I pray that more women will become aware of the poison they are putting in their bodies.
Best wishes to all you ladies that are suffering. I encourage you to take control of your health and your body!! Peace~

I am feeling a little bit better knowing I am not alone....and I am not CRAZY!!!! I have been suffering with PMDD symptoms for a few years now and after my doctor prescribed numerous antidepressents to no avail, I thought I was losing my mind, and wondering why they weren't working? I will continue to read and read and read all I can about PMDD and try to get my life back - thank you all for letting me see that it's not just me! Thats so assuring after everybody in my world has abandoned me because of this!

hi Everyone!
I'm new to this forum, and I must say, everyone's experience here has pretty much summed up my life since I started menstruating at 12 years of age. I'm wondering though, has anyone tried the herbal supplement called Fenugreek to help with their symptoms? My mom gave me this article she found on how it can help, but I'm really skeptical about it.
Please let me know if you've tried it and it has helped, or not! Thanks!
