As mentioned in my profile, I am a 20-year-old student that also works in a pharmacy! My mother is actually going through menopause at this stage of her life. Sorry to say---but its kinda funny watching her go through a hot flash when she doesn't want to admit it. I know her doctor told her to take Calcium and magnesium pills to help with bone loss and osteoporosis. What are some things that a woman can do to help her go through menopause more easily?

I have been using a generic version (available at WalMart) of Estroven Plus for several months now. I've never had a problem (yet) with hot flashes, but I have found some relief for my mood swings. It's definately worth a try!

I am only 27, but am experiencing severe hot flashes, mood swings, and basicly all the symptoms of menopause. I am in the process of trying to figure out what' wrong with me. I suspect a may have Permimenopause which comes before menopause. With all my frustration, I have been doing tons of research for things that will help with my symptoms.
I found that everyone recommends Evening Primrose Oil, Fish or Flaxseed Oil, and Soy Isoflavone. Both of those ingredients are in those Estroven menopause pills. I by the suppliments in their individual pill form because you can experiment with the dosage. The premade combo pills have very small amounts of the helpful stuff. They are very small portions in comparison to what I read you should take. I was just at the store a couple days ago and spent about an hour in WalMart reading the backs of all the packages. The suggested amount of Primrose Oil is 1,000 mg and I think the Estrovan had only 50 mg or something like that. Here is what each of those things is supposed to do for you... Fish (best) or Flaxseed Oil: Lessen hot flashes, sweating, depression, and fatigue Evening Primrose Oil: Lesson breast tenderness, mood swings, anxiety, irritabillity, headaches, and water retention Soy and Soy Isoflavone: Lessons hot flashes Also, cortisol in your body increases the symptoms of menopause. Cortisol can be reduced by regular exercize. And then there is the obvious... try to do things to relax yourself, avoid excessive amounts of sugar and you should avoid caffeine completely. |

Funny how my mother use to have me take cod liver oil every day as a kid, and now I'm reading about fish oil helping menopause symptoms. . . looks like I need to head to Wal-Mart to get fish oil for my hot flashes and fatigue. Thanks for the helpful info! :-)

Many women experience different things during menopause but some of the most common signs are heavy, irregular or no menustral cycles, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irritability, decrease in sex drive, and vaginal dryness.

Estroven PM is very helpful for restless sleep and works for that the first night you take it. The package says it helps with night sweats over time but for me it decreased my night sweats by half the very first night I took it. I love that I'm now feeling better at night because it's easier to get through the day.

Hi all,
Just a quick note about hot flashes... I noticed that they were tormenting me when I was on a Standard American Diet... and they completely disappear when I eat clean (that is:fruit, veggies, bulk, whole-grain cereal, nuts, seeds, beans, v.little meat, eggs and some diary, olive&coconut oil, some honey & some salt). In the last couple of days I had some coffee & some wine & beer and, guess what, they're back (cocoa never bothers me, and I have lots of it!). Another thing that helped me was acupuncture; no flashes while doing it, even if I had a relaxed diet at the time. It is expensive, though, I'll stick with a diet. Eating clean (or maybe having lots of good fats from nuts & avocado) eliminated my dryness, too. I also lost weight . Hope that helps.
