Default vaginal dryness and the estrogen ring

Hi...I'm new here and have a question. I am 55and have not had a period for 4 years..which is wonderful. I have had trouble with vaginal dryness. My doctor perscribed Premarin vaginal cream for 2 months ..stop the cream and then use the estrogen ring that you keep in your vagina for three months. If any of you ladies use the ring, do you have trouble inserting it and removing it?? Let me know if the ring has worked for you. Thanks...

Try taking a tablespoon of olive oil every day and see where you are after about a month. Also some women say putting a vitamin e capsule in their vagina helps, your body heat will melt the capsule. Replens is another great lubricant you might want to try.

If they are what I think they are, your doctor needs to write a script and send it to the company. They are made on an individual basis according to your specific needs.

I have never tried the ring, but have tried Vagifem with great results. The ring sounds a bit awkward... Vagifem are little pills on the end of a very thin applicator...like inserting a Tampax only easier! LOL

Hi Carol,
I think your concerns about cancer are valid. Give me a choice between no sex and no cancer, or sex with cancer....and I'll take the former choice, thank you.

Default painful sex - menopause!

First post here - went to the Doc after intercourse a few times after a year of no activity (new person in my life). I thought it was psychologocal DOc showed me (with a mirror)bruising and that the tissue was changed and dry - prescribed Estace nightly, an estrogen cream. I am worried this will not turn around and haven't told the three month guy what the exact problem is (yet). Any other things to try (diet? vitamins? exercise?)and have others seen improvement with these creams - and ,,,how long before you think I will be back in the groove? I am upset with this news obviously and feel so darn old...Thank You!

Hi Carol & all,
I used to be extremely dry until one year ago, when I went on a raw food diet. I am not sure if it was eating clean that or the raw nuts that I have been eating, but I am not dry anymore. I was reading in "Eat, drink and be gorgeous" (forgot the author's name) that healthy fats help a lot. This might be true for me, since, in the last year, I have been eating pounds of nuts & avocado. Oh, did I mention that when I eat clean I have no hot-flashes?

Default re:painful intercourse help

I've recently tried using Cetaphil cream and it works really well to soothe and stop that burning feeling during intercourse. The cream is much more effective than any other lubircants we've tried! It is found in most drugstores so there is no prescription or hormones to deal with. I was given Cetaphil for radiation treatment burns and found it very soothing so I thought why not give it a try for this use. Hope this helps others!
