these aren't hot flashes - it's the tongue of satan, tormenting me. i feel like someone has imprisoned me into a world where unseen forces play games by roasting me over an open bbq simply for their pleasure. i'm single, never married, never wanted children and never had children so i've always debated with my own body over why i had to have a menstrual cycle to begin with since i planned to never have kids or to require the services of ovulation.

i know i am going to sound like a raving lunatic and that is because for the time being that is exactly what i am! a raving, roasting, fatigued, irritated, despondent lunatic, capable of misfiring her mouth in the wrong direction at some innocent person one minute, crying for hours over it the next, and then spending ridiculous amounts of money on ebay the next. i am a self centered, neurotic mess at the present time!

i have an appointment with a gyno in the next few weeks. i don't want to take hormones. i just turned 46. at 44 i was a victim of an assault. a few months later my menstrual cycle stopped, both shoulders froze, i lost my beloved cat, and life changed forever. i know that things can never be the same but i would like to stop being roasted like a piece of sizzling beef and find some peace before i do damage!

ps. i notice there is no laughing devil icon, which i could really use right now to help illustrate my torment.

I have no idea what's prompting me to respond to you. Maybe since you got so much of the devil in you, this is a Jesus thing. Who knows. I don't have anything in common with you in that I'm male and married, but I'm about your age and if you would like a friend...well I can be that.

I guess maybe that's a few things we have in common...I'm about your age and I don't have any children. Also, I live in the deep south, and it's hotter than heck here so maybe we can both commisurate.

Hope this isn't taken the wrong way but it sounds like maybe more than an appointment with the gyno is in order. Maybe you also make an appointment with a mental health professional, they may be able to give you some help/relief.

fallen, i am not really offended that you've told me to seek mental health care. what is really offensive to me is that you think you might have an inkling of what i, a total and complete stranger, need. are their support systems for people who are so unwittingly rude? just a suggestion. its ironic that, thus far, the only support i've recieved on a bbs for women suffering from menopausal symtoms is from a married man full of Jesus. an irony that i've no doubt slipped right past you.

Is this serious? Because good god. She wasn't at all rude. You come here asking for advice (or at least posting on a forum where people seek advice...) and she's somehow rude for suggesting something that could be of some service to you? I don't think she's wrong...And she's wasn't presumptuous at all. It's pretty obvious therapy helps people with anger issues, and YOU just lashed out at a complete stranger. We like to be nice here, trialbyfire.

Chelsea, from your lovely photo one might gather you're all of 23 years old, if that. So I have to ask; why are you over on this board giving me advice about how to behave if you haven't gone through the thing I'm complaining about?

I don't have to answer to you. My comment wasn't directed toward you. For me, it's that simple.

First off how can I be rude if you are the one who asked for advice .... I gave it ..... simple as that. If we use your analogy then everyone on this board that posts comments/advice to someone is rude because we are all strangers to one another. If you, or anyone that asks for support or advice doesn't like the advice given then you certainly don't have to use it.

Second of all, seeing that I am also a total stranger to you, you have no idea what I've been through or am going through. I am 41, and yes I do have an inkling of what you might be going through.

Third, Chelsea may be young and not going through what you are going through but she may very well know someone who is.

Fourth, yes I do know that Fire is a man ..... there are quite a few here that are really supportive and give excellent advice.

I hope you find the support/help/relief that you are looking for.
