Hi folks.
New to the boards, so hello to you all. This is a fab site, great to know I'm not on my own. I'm 48 and I've been told from a blood test that I'm perimenopausal having missed a period in July and a light period in August - the blood test was pretty conclusive with high readings of FSH and LH. After a light period at the beginning of Aug, I seem to be having loads of stomach cramps and dragging as if I'm due to start another period. Has anyone else been through this. It's a nuisance as I feel as if I'm about to start a period at anytime. Thanks for listening. Much Love, Lilian59 |

Sometimes people post so quickly and so many new people that a thread gets left for a bit, tills someone brings it up... ![]() I am 45... Thanks for reminding me of the inevitable Can't say I have/am going through that.But...I've always been light... But pain and learn't to say WT? Walk more, excersise more regardless if i think that i want to, no way But I do and it helps. The other thing to consider is your body can change. Once milk, eggs, cheese, chilli, spice, no prob... Things can change, and you could be Lactose Intollerant and less spicy ... In addition to pain your stomach can do the opposite, bloat... Or not.. sometimes it's just pain. Cut out the foods i mentioned... Yeah right CW and replace them with some, any greens, fish, chicken, 200gms max of meat, salads, veg, tuna, no dairy or lactose free milk, butter, etc... If no change, fine, not it. But, if a change then maybe, a new little bugger has come out to play.... CW

Thanks for the advice - I'll definetely try the dietary changes. It's pretty healthy anyway b ut maybe a few tweaks here and there won't hurt.
Seem to be in a permanent state of PMS at the moment but I suppose that will continue until my hormones regulate and calm down a bit. Take Care, Lil59 xx |

I'm new to the board as well - Thanks to all those who post! I am 38 years old, mother of two beautiful boys (10 & 14). I stopped having periods at age 37 and experienced hot flashes, mood swings (or as I call them - outer body experiences
) off and on for about 2 years prior, along with some periods lasting up to 14 days and then not having a period for 3 or 4 months at a time. On my annual visits to my GYN, and a few in between - I would mention these areas of concern and ask the doc if I could be going through the change.. (about 12 years ago, I had two large cysts, 1 ovary & my appendics removed) - the ovary we salvaged, was just enough to bring my 10 year old into the world. Thus, the reason for my question about going 'through the change' to my doc. He didn't seem too concerned - didn't do any blood tests and assured me not to worry. Anyway, the hot flashes got so bad, I was litterally sleep deprived and desperate. Went to the doc again, he ran some tests and my levels were off the chart (high) - conclusive that I've GONE through the change. Anything I've read regarding 'early' menopause, doesn't really mention women in their 30's! I'm not taking hormones (completely against my doc's orders), and am dealing with it.) I'm posting to see if any other mid 30's ladies have had the same experiences! My doc assures me that no other disorders could be causing this, i.e., cancer of some sort. So, that's my story - can't wait to read replys! One more thing... My docs big concern for wanting me to take hormones is his for my bones becoming calcium deficient. Currently, that hasn't happened and I'm taking 1200mg Calcium w/vitamin D.

Lilian, keep in mind that during peri everything is out of whack. So it's quite possible that you are getting ready to have another period. They can now come and go whenever they darn well please and they can last as long as they want to also!! I've found out during this time of my life that ANYTHING GOES!!!
Libra69, I've know other ladies that have gone through menopause at your age. So it is possible!! I'd consider yourself lucky if you made it through the change already. Some of us are still fighting to get through it as unpleasant as it may be. I find it strange that most doctors like to shrug off our unpleasantries of menopause with a nonchalant smile as if its no big deal. Well ya know what, I'll bet if the tides were turned they wouldn't be thinking like that!!!! |
