Default sooooo frustrated!!!!!

Does anyone know what could be happening? I had my tubes tied almost five years ago, after the birth of my youngest, nursed for two and a half years, when my period started again, it was really different. And it has been going on for almost three years now. My period starts, seems normal for about two or three days, stops for a couple of days, starts again for a day, stops, then for about two weeks it's this gummy dark brown to light brown discharge! I have been to several doctors, none of them seem interested in finding out what is wrong. All I am offered it to take birth control pills, and it works while I am taking the pill, the brown dischage stops, but I don't really want to take the pill, since my tubes are already tied. The doctors have told me that by taking the pill it would help my body remember how it's supposed to work. Well, it forgets as soon as I stop taking the pill. I am taking progesterone pills now, but it takes four days for the brown dischage to stop. My cycles are kinda short also, 21 to 23 days, so I really only get six days where I'm not having this yucky brown discharge. I have also had two ultrasounds, the first one showed a cyst on my overy, but by the next month the cyst was gone. My paps have been normal. My blood work is always normal. What could this be? If I hadn't had my tubes tied, would this be happening? Could it be menopause? I was 32 when this started and am now 35. Could it be cancer? Is it something with my hormones? I havn't been able to find very much information on this kind of problem. This has taken a serious toll on my sex life. I really don't like to be intemaite while I am having the gross brown discharge. So, my poor husband. He's frustrated too. Can someone please help me figure this out?!!!

tibertus is on a distinguished road
Default I know what you mean!

I have a thyroid condition that first showed itself through my cycle, and then I got diagnosed with the condition. Ever since then, I have not had a true solution, short of taking Depo-Provera that seemed to work the best in alleviating most of the cycle, but it would still peak through even though that med is supposed to get rid of the cycle completely.

As of this date, my cycle is exactly like what you describe since I have left the Depo-Provera. I do not have a solution, but continue to look for one. As a matter of fact, I have an appointment tomorrow.

With that said, you may want to have your thyroid checked. You may be suffering from an undiagnosed condition that is showing itself like mine did for me. Mine is "Hashimoto's" which is due to my immune system attacking my thyroid.

Thank you so much for replying. Any blood work I've had has shown to be normal, but one of my doctors had said that my thyroid felt slightly enlarged. Both of my sisters also have underactive thyroids and one of them takes medication daily. It has caused many other problems which took a long time to figure out that it was all because of the thyroid. I will ask my doctor to test my thyroid again. Thanks.
