Pcos
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after 6 years of irregular periods, to gradually not having a period at all except for a little spotting every now and then. My pap test came back normal. Dr had an ultrasound done to check the thickness of the lining of my uterus and that was fine. There were no abnormalities other than some Nabothain cysts on my cervix which are benign.
I just finished 2 days ago taking provera to try and induce a period, so far..no such luck. Then, I get a call from the nurse today and she wants me to call if and when I start bleeding/spotting..even if I don't..
If I don't bleed or end up with just spotting, Dr. wants me to make another appt. to see her for further examination. What more could she do? I thought I was in the clear on things and now I am scared to death..Has anyone else had this happen before?
I've had my hormone levels checked a few times and they were ok..I do have elevated testosterone levels a bit and my insulin levels are also high, but other than that, everything was ok.

PCOS comment....
I also have been diagnosed with PCOS. Do not fret, this is pretty common. Please remember that every woman is unique and different and this is my story. For me I found out I had PCOS when I was trying to get pregnant. I had to get clomide just to get pregnant. For the most part PCOS is a nucience (with cycles) but can be maintained and treated (somewhat). When I wanted to get pregnant with my second child I was blessed enough to find a GYN who specialices in PCOS. Women who have PCOS tend to have high inslin levels (their bodies create too much glucose) which gets worse if you love starches (like me), irregular periods - I tend to go 2 months with out a cycle then my body makes up for it when I finally do have one. Anyway, he put me on Glucophage (this is the drug that people with diabeties take) and he put me on a low carb diet - 30 - 40 carbs a day. Within 2 weeks I lost 8 pounds. He then gave me a drug to induce my cycle, and 2 weeks later I look the clomide and immediately got pregnant. After I had my first son, the PCOS cleared up some. I had less cysts and did not cramp as much. After my second son was born I now have no cramps. Unfortuntaly my cycles are still irregular. I do not reccommend taking birth control to regulate your cycle, eating less carbs and healther, excersing may help. I would reccommend finding a GYN who specializes in PCOS in your area. My doc really helped educate me and point me in the right direction.
