Hi, I'm going on 19 this December and I need help.

My menstrual cycle has never been regular, ever since 6th grade. When I was a sophomore in high school, I mentioned this to my doctor, and he said that I need to give it more time, because I was only 16. He then prescribed me birth control. Since then, I have tried birth control 3 different times. Once for a year, another for six months, and another for three months. Each time, the birth control NEVER worked. Meaning that it did not help to regulate my periods. I have seen a gynocologist to check my hormones, and to check for thyroid disorders. And my hormone levels were average, as well I did not have any thyroid disorder. Now, back to my period. When I am on my period, they are severe. Often I cannot do anything the first day of my period, mainly because of the severe pain I feel, and the fact that I have such a heavy flow. And by heavy flow I mean, a super plus tampon AND an overnight pad, only lasting about 2-3 hours at a time. My periods often last between 7-17 days, this also varies. I try to keep track of my periods, but they are so spaced apart that often I cannot remember. My periods range usually from 2-5 months apart. But this time, my last period was in June, and before that December. I know this might be a relief to some people, but to myself I am worried. What if I have a disorder, or a disease? Worse, what if I am infertile?

Please help me with my problem, I need help.

You poor thing... There is no disease, doubt that you have anything other than youth against you.

I have read an abundance of simular threads here, over time, always of youth.

The pill does usually regulate and slow down heaviness, but maybe they aren't strong enough what you have been prescribed..

    What has your Doctor said?

    hello,
i am also experiencing almost the same thing as u. i have been to the doctor and have checked my hormones they came out to be very perfect. i had to do series of STD's such as HIV, GONORRIAH, CHLAMYDIA SYPHILISand so many others they also came out all negetive. then i went for an ultrasound last week and found out i had apolycystic ovay according to ultrasound criterial.am due to see the gynea next january.u really have to do a wide range of test and know the state of ur overies.its not a disease is just the we would some medications to bust our rate of ovulation so that we can have regular periods.

    Unhappy

I am glad I am not alone in this.
My last period was in July, and like you i get heavy flows. My period lasts between 5-10 days. I have never been normal, I go tmy period when I was 14, and I am 16 now. One time I had it so bad I fainted, but i had been very active that day as well.
I am afriad to go to thew doctor, and my mom doesn't think anything is wrong with me. I beg to differ, though.
I am not sexually active..well, I haven't had sex yet. So that is ruled out.
I do not have the greatest diet, and am stressed constantly. So that is one of the major problems as well.

But last week, I was bleeding a bit, which I considered my period. It was super light and lasted 3 days, which is unlike it.
Today, it started up again-almost a full week after it was over. it's very strange, and I'm so worried. Does this relate to you or anyone else here? Maybe it will benefit us both to talk about it.
I am just very scared right now...
