Thread: Menstrual irregularity: it's been 2+ weeks

Like other women in this site, I have experienced an irregularity in my menstrual cycle. Bleeding usually only lasts about a week, but this time around it's been over 2 weeks. I did some research online and many suggested it could be birth control pills (or the lack of) in one's system. However, I have not taken pills in over a year. I can't make sense of what is going on with my body... someone please help. I'm beginning to get scared...

I had that for years. I had what doctors called non-ovulatory bleeding. It happened when I didn't ovulate. Sometimes I would bleed for a month at a time. Granted it was not heavy most of the time, but it was a nuisance. I started BC and it went away, but anytime I go off the pill it comes back sometimes. I'm 39 now and still on the pill. Don't panic, but definitely call your doctor and see what he/she says. Good luck!
