    Hi Ladies

I have been searching the net for a site like this, all of my friends are still taking BC or they have never been on it and now have all these wonderful babies.

I got married in May this year and decided to stop taking BC then, thinking by now coming up to Christmas we could start trying for a baby! Silly me.

My cycle is all over the place - well to be honest non existant. I am ranging between 31 days and 38 days and then if my period decides to join me it for a day, very very light.

Any of you guys experienced this? I have been to see my Doctor but she told me not to worry and I feel I have just been ignored.

Any advice would be warmly welcomed.

What kind of birth control were you on? The time that it takes to "recover" from taking birth control varies on the type/brand of BC, how long you took it, and your body's chemistry.

Unfortunately, it will take the majority of women a long time to get back to "normal". Many women will have to wait several years to become pregnant. I took Depo Provera for 5 years. They say that Depo leaves your system completely after a year, but it took my cycles another 3 years or so to become regular again. I know of many women who could not get pregnant for an astonishing 10 years. It really varies for everyone.

You should also get a hormone test from your doctor. Stopping birth control can leave you with a hormone imbalance. Some BC is known to cause progesterone deficiency which leads to progesterone infertillity. It is temporary, but has to be reversed by hormone therapy. You should definately get checked for something like that and any other form of infertillity that you may be experiencing. Keep in mind that the problem could also lie with your man.
