Default Abnormal Bleeding, am I having a miscarriage?

I'm 18 years old and I'm a female. I have been taking birth control on and off since September 2008. I stop taking it only because my fiance lives in the UK and I live in the US, so when we are not visiting I go off it. In August 2008 we found out I was pregnant. Since the only options we figured would be best for us and the baby is an abortion with us living in separate countries and sorting our our immigration forms.... we unfortunately went through with it and had the abortion.

After, I started to notice an extreme discomfort and pain when we are close (sex). It's been almost 6 months since the abortion and I still feel the pain at times when my fiance and I are close.

This time being on birth control I haven't been too good at taking it at the same time everyday. I started taking it at 3:00 in the afternoon and it got later and later and some days I'd be almost 3 hours late and it would be 1 in the morning until I would take the pill.

I had my period about 12-14 days ago and it was normal. It completely stopped at a normal time and everything.

Two days ago I had extreme lower back pains and yesterday I had large brown clumps almost like clots. I continued to have them throughout the day. Today I am still experiencing the clumps but now it is a lot heavier and the color has changed from a dark brown to bright red and brown bits. My back has continued to hurt as well as my pelvic area. I am nauseous on and off which had started last night. I'm also very fatigue and my breast have been sore since my last period.

I have taken a HPT last night but came up negative. Is it because it was taken to early or can I trust it?

I'm in the UK so I'm not to sure what my options are as it's my fiancé's country and not mine.

I'm very worried so any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you

Sounds like you might be having one...

Although bleeding is often the first sign of a miscarriage, first-trimester bleeding may also occur with a normal pregnancy. But bleeding with pain is a sign that miscarriage is more likely.
Pain. You may have pelvic cramps, abdominal pain, or a persistent, dull ache in your lower back. Pain may start a few hours to several days after bleeding has begun.

Blood clots or grayish (fetal) tissue passing from the vagina.
It is not always easy to tell whether a miscarriage is taking place. A miscarriage often does not occur as a single event but as a chain of events over several days. One woman's physical experience of a miscarriage can be very different from another woman's experience.
