Women on antidepressants can experience changes in both their cycles and their sexual appetite for a number of reasons. Antidepressants have an effect on hormones. I do not know in great detail how it works, but they typically suppress sexual appetite and can cause periods to be irregular or non-existant at times. Women who start to take antidepressants are also likely to be experiencing stress and, of course, depression which both can cause periods to become irregular or non-existant. So it can be a combination of all those things. It can take many months for your cycle to become regular. The best thing to do is to try to eliminate stress and depression or find healthy ways to release those negative feelings. If you continue to have irregular periods several months from now, let your doctor know.
