I've had painful periods since they started when I was 11 (I'm in my 20s now). One thing that has helped a lot is exercise... I noticed that my periods during whichever sports season I was were much lighter and easier than in the off-seasons. I decided to counter that by jogging during the off-seasons (which also helped me to stay in better shape and not suffer so much the first week of practice!). Now I exercise by running and working out regularly to both stay in shape and to counter the horrific pains. They're still bad, but not as bad as when I don't exercise! Taking midol a week or a few days before your period starts also helps... trying to sleep it off helps... green tea helps...

I'm 17 and i get severe cramps... to the point where i can't get out of bed.. or a doctor prescribes me a painkiller.

I just started nuvaring, one of the reasons being for my cramps.

I'd talk to your gyno about it

Exersize may help, especially walking, running and stretching. One of my sisters had an awful time with this, she out grew it in a few years but she would miss at least a day of school every month.

I did, too, and I still do. I am actually starting birth control back up to get my period under control. If you talk to your doctor, or Planned Parenthood, or whoever you go to for your paps, let them know you want something to help alleviate your period symptoms. They can give you a pill with more hormones in it that will better regulate you.
