Default No period for 2 years, now brown discharge for 2 months?

I'm16yrs old and a virgin. The last period I had was July '07, and my periods were regular, probably even occurred more than they were supposed to, and VERY heavy. Then I became anorexic and lost about 30 pounds. Then I developed a binging problem (but no purging) last summer, and now I'm just eating regularly and healthy.

The beginning of February '09, I started to notice dark brown discharge so I started wearing panty liners. Then it became red and I assumed it was my period. Then it became very dark brown and mucus-like, once again, and It's STILL going on now, has been for over two months.

What's wrong with me? Should I get on birth control to regulate this?

Also, could this be due to masturbation, which I've recently started? I have a long-distance boyfriend and he's been helping me to do so.

I would seriously go see a doctor if you can. I have never had anything like that going on for 2 monhts. It could be many things but from what I understand anorexia can really mess up your system for a while.

I've had that problem since I was 12 but not because of anemia or any other reason. I honestly think most women have period problems around that age- I still have them and I'm 24! But you need you go see a doc. Maybe you should see a gyno because birth control most likely will be the solution.

Hey there. Sounds like your problems might stem from your former eating disorders - it is likely that, given time to properly heal, your body will resume normal function. When it doesn't have enough nutrients, the amazing machine that is your body shuts down the most superfluous of functions in an act of self-preservation. So when you weren't giving your amazing machine the food it needed, it temporarily shut off the "baby making" function of your body to make sure you lasted longer.
Contrary to some of the responses I see above, I would not recommend the birth control pill as a way to fix your particular problem. Gynecologists often jump to recommend the pill because it is a quick fix to a lot of period problems, but the truth is that it isn't necessarily the healthiest solution. If I were in your position, I would probably see a nutritionist before I jumped to hormonal birth control; he or she might be able to help you make sure you are getting the nutrients necessary for your body to return to regular menstruation.
I hope this helps! Send me a message if you have any success!
    Lady Love,
    K.

I have that problem too. I'm 14, and I have had this problem since summer of 2008. I have no clue whats wrong, its just brown and smelly discharge. Sometimes its not that bad. but sometimes I have to continue to wear pantiliners for weeks. I don't know if its BV because it doesn't itch, or inflame..but i'm so scared! and it won't go away! help?!?

oh, and i havent' had my last period in like 2 - 3 months!

It's definitely not caused by masterbating. So go ahead and enjoy yourself. Do see a doctor since this could lead to anemia and is no doubt annoying and messy.

Dont neglect yourself, go see a OB/GYN. Brown blood is usually old/ stale blood, therefore the smell.
