Hi. I'm new to the board so let me introduce myself.
My name is MJ, I'm 28 years old.
I started my period when I was 12 years old, that gives me 16 years of experience in knowing what's going on with my flow. I have always had a normal cycle, normal (for me) meaning it would last about 3 days, flow moderate and it starts like clockwork every 25 days.
However... things have started to change and I'm confused and a little worried. Last month my period lasted 2 days longer than usual and was very painful the whole time. I felt like... pardon me for being gross... my uterus was going to fall out. I didn't think too much of it, figured it was just a rough month. Well, this month is 100x worse. I started my period about a week early and it didn't start like it normally does, with a little drip - it felt like someone had turned on a faucet. I also had this excruciating pain in my right side, like someone had my ovary in a vice grip and was just turning the heck out of it over and over. I took some pain pills which took the edge off but that feeling like something was going to burst inside of me never went away. I bled for about 30 hours, filling up about 8 maxi pads with bright red blood and lots of small clots (by lots I mean I saw like 25 in the 30 hours). Then - I stopped. Not even a spot for over 24 hours and now I'm spotting again and guess what, the pain is back.
None of this is normal, like I said, I've always had normal cycles.
I had a tubal ligation when I was 19, so I know I'm not pregnant. Tied, clamped and burned! I also had cysts removed from my ovaries at the same time and a D&C to clean me out because I had an overage of estrogen thanks to the Depo Provera shot (which I haven't had in 9 years).
I don't have insurance or a family doctor, so I'm really not knowing what to do. I had to call off of work the pain was so bad and so constant. I delivered all three of my children au naturel and this pain is 100x worse than all of that combined. I don't really want to go to the E.R. because I know they're going to think "Cramps", give me a prescription for Vicodin and send me on my way.
Has anyone ever had anything like this go on with them? I'm looking for a clinic but not having much luck but I'd like a little peace of mind in the meantime because I (and my poor hubby) can't help but fear the worse.
