hi im new to this site. I'm 18 and my name is Yvonne, but anyways i have really bad cramps when im heavy to, i always take advil..works the best, but anyways i have irrgular periods aswell. im on tri-cylcen 28 day pack, and ever since i started taking them i get my period for 3 weeks, and then off for about 4 days then get my period again. i went to the doctors, and they told me they have never heard of that. weird , so they told me to come back if it happens again. does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? i hate having a period for 3 weeks. geez. this has been going on for 5 months. do you think its the birthcontrol or me? lol. Now im freaking out cause i thought i might be pregnant or something. but im not sure. im just not sure what to think right now. I've also gained weight like crazy and thats what made me thought i was pregnant. but it could be my pills. help me, any suggestions?..lol

I would suggest trying different brands and doses of birth control. They a "one-size-fits-all" kind of drug. What works for one woman may not work for you. So I think you need to try some others to achieve the desired result. The right birth control and dosage should help you to have a more regular period.

If that doesn't help, you may want to have your hormone levels tested to make sure they aren't out of balance. That can cause excessively long cycles too.

If you feel like you aren't getting any answers or enough help from your doctor, find a new one. Get multiple opinions about your situation because not all doctors are the best ones to help you.
