    Hi All,

Am' trying to get pregnent, but need to know more abt how to find out my fertile days..
    I have irregular period (30-33)
    Flow lasts for 4 days.
I have a 35*19mm retentio cyst in my right ovary (PCOS) and is taking the medinine Bigomet SR500 now as per my doctor's advice.

I want to know the following:

--> Is my cyst too big ?

--> Can anyone tell me how to find out my ovulation days ?

--> And, is it true that we need to have inercourse prior to ovulation and not after that ? If so, How till how many days before ovulation is ok ?

--> Also, I read somewhere that even if a woman doesn' ovulate, She might get period. Is it true ? How to ensure that am' ovulating ?

    Hi,

I am also trying to get pregnant and have irregular periods and am undergoing tests for PCOS.

I have been researching the best way to tell if you are ovulating and the one with the best reviews was to bd a boby temptrature thermometer (i can't rember what it is called, i think it is a basal thermometer) you can pick one up in any chemist. Anyway you should check your tempreture every day and when it rises you are ovurlating. After a coulpe of Months you will be able to predict when you will be ovulating. They say you should have sex every other day up to 6 days before you are ovulating, as the sperm can live for 3 days or longer. Hopefully this will help catch you when you are most fertile. I hope this helps.

There is also a book by Beth Keily which has loads of helpfull advise, you can download the book on line.

    Good Luck xx

JoEllen, You are correct about the Basal Temperature but you dont need a special thermometer at all to check this. Basal is basically your body at rest, so if you were to take your temperature right when you wake up, before you set up or turn off alarms or even speak. Try to take your BBT around the same time each morning because your temp can very with the time. Also make sure you get atleast 5 hrs of sleep. Take your temperature with a regular thermometer. the change is very small. Some women but not all women will see a drop in temerature when they are ovulating so this would be time to have sex but like I said, Not all women experience this. A rise of .4 degrees over a 48 hr period. when the temp raises, that means you have already ovulated. If you do this over a few months you can but predict when you will be ovulating. Drs recommend you do not do like so many and have sex every day just to make sure you hit your ovulation day because it can actually lower your chances. The more swimmers in one shot is a way better plan.

also One thing to note is that women with ovulatory cycles but with irregular cycle lengths, the greatest variation from cycle to cycle should be in the follicular phase. The luteal phase should be relatively constant (within 1-2 days). So if one has a cycle that ranges from 28-34 days, and a luteal phase of 14 days, ovulation would occur somewhere between days 14-20 -- not the middle of a cycle, not day 14 . . . This is the biggest mistake women with long cycles make when trying to conceive
