i have been having heavy periods for at least the last yr or so to the point where i bleed right threw my underwear and on my clothes. i had to buy extra asorbant pads just so i wouldnt leak though ( uncomfortable to wear too) but i still bled right threw them and the pads are soaked. i count the days when i am due and i am ALWAYS late.. 2-3 days late every month. Then i bled very heavy for the 1st 2 days then my period stops usually mid -day (on the 3rd day) then starts again and back to the heavy bleeding for 2-3 days. is this normal? i am 43 and someone suggested i might need a DNC. Why would a DNC be needed? someone also suggested birth control pills too.
i'm not sure if this is something to worry about.. and i get some pain on my left ovarie just a week before my period. i have had a history of pre-cervical cancer but that was over 10 yrs ago and my paps come back fine. so i dont know what is cause the heavy bleeding.. is it my age? or something more? i have a doctors appt on 7/25 so i am going to bring this up to her.
