I am a 28 year old mother of 2. When I was 18 I went BC to regulate my period. I had horrible problems... cramps to the point of actually passing out, nausea, vomiting even some bad gastrointestinal problems. Now that I am finished having children I am having those same problems with my period. Not to mention wicked flow!! My husband and I are opposed to a hysterectomy. I have had pap tests and nothing ever comes back out of whack. I should also mention my mother had to have a hysterectomy in 98 due to indometreosis. Can anyone offer some advice? I've been thinking about Seasonale or the other one that is supposed to have your period last only three days. Please help!!

I started birth control when I was 16 for the same reason. Unbearable period symptoms. It is natural for many women to go through them.

The only way to really help reduce those is birth control. Just stay away from Depo Provera! It's bad news.

There are a lot of things you can do to help with your symptoms as well. Try using pads instead of tampons. They can further irritate the vaginal walls and cause more pain. The build up of blood from tampons can also increase cramping. Avoid anything with caffiene as this increases blood flow and cramping. Take Advil/Ibuprofin rather then Tylenol or Aspirin.
