Default 30 plus day bleeding...any ideas?

I am a 28 yr old female who stopped taking BC (Orthotryclen) in October to try to get pregnant. Had been on B/C for nine years. I had a couple of normal months at first but am now on my thirty plus day of bleeding for this cycle. Although it is lighter now, for twenty some odd days it was heavy with severe cramps and clots. My gyn told me this was normal for getting off the pill as your hormones regulated, but nobody I know has ever had this problem. Then she said I had PCOS without running any kinds of test. She told me she had no information to give me on PCOS and to "look it up myself." Her only advice was to get back on the pill which is not that great an option for someone trying to get pregnant. Has anyone else heard of this problem or know if this could be caused by something other than PCOS? Thanks.

It sounds to me like you need to see a new doctor. What kind of doctor tells you what you have and then says to go look it up yourself? That is ridiculous.

It is true that it can take many months and some times years for your cycle to regulate after coming off BC. Granted, a month straight of bleeding seems a bit extensive. Usually women experience random bleeding, a break, bleeding, a break, and so on. Or they have no period at all for a while.

I would definately recommend a second or third opinion just to be safe.
