Default Why have I been crazy since puberty?

got my period in fall 2001, at age 11. leading up to it, my personality got quieter. earlier that yr, i suddenly became increasingly nervous, serious, irritable, and shy. my grades dropped and i could not pay attention very well without getting a headache. i also had a huge, red swollen lymph node for five months that was supposed to get surgically removed, but didn't because it went down. that spring/summer, i developed OCD and started having panic attacks episodes (but i only had two "episodes" of those -- one everyday for a week when I was 11; then one everyday for 2 weeks when i was 14).

fast forward: i'm 19. a virgin. never been in a relationship even tho I get asked out because i always seem to have some kind of a problem that eats my life. moody, emotional, barely any energy, chronic headaches and stomachaches, horrible cramps and PMS, OCD, i've been accused of having an ED because i'm slightly underweight, eye floaters, vaginal discomfort, poor circulation, cold and light sensitivity, and get sore easily. have had breast discharge. my underarms and breasts are regularly tender. my bpm sent me to the nurse once during a bio class experiment. when i get hungry, i either feel very sick or i get hyper (talk fast, telling ppl weird things, etc). i get headaches/stomachaches upon physical exertion (lifting things/walking around or standing up for long periods of time, etc). i do the dishes in our house, and sometimes i cry cuz i get SO tired and just need to sit down.

since i have anxiety, i attributed all of this to it. plus i was scared of what it could mean, so i just prayed it would go away! i've been to therapy, which helped--but not my physical symptoms or my feelings of "off"-ness.

i see my doc in 2 weeks (i wish it was sooner but whatever). i think i have a thyroid problem since i have a whole bunch of the symptoms. was on zoloft for four months for anxiety attacks (brought upon by obsessing; basically it's a depersonalization attack along with headache and stomachache), but that made my OCD way worse and when I withdrew (never withdraw while on your period if you don't have to, ok?? because it's reallly bad), it was omg horrible...X_X...

My school therapist thought it was PMDD, but the psychiatrist (who was a jerkface) didn't think so.

ANY insight would be great while i wait for August 12.... Does this sound like a thyroid problem to anyone or something else?

I'm no doctor and only have a certain amount of advice available. I guess I really just wanted to reach out to you and attempt to offer some support from one libra to another. Some of the issues you are going through I experienced as a teen. I had to dive into the arts things that had no rules such as music and writing, painting and poetry. Then I discovered the power of meditation how quieting my mind gave me control over self, focus and patience. I suffer from insomnia with a mild case of ADD but as a teen the number of medical illness's I went through were astounding. I drink wheatgrass juice which you might want to research for yourself as well. Two weeks isn't a long time to wait, you have waited this long right? Choose your doctor carefully, you want someone you can communicate with that is not going to rush you and that will take the time to understand not underestimate all your questions and concerns. Your breast may be leaking from an excess of hormones be more mindful of what you are eating and the chemical content. Being that you have two weeks I would also look into detoxing but drink plenty of water. Now like I said this is just my personal advice I am not a doctor and would not want to steer you wrong all a detox will do is remove any harmful pollutants in your body, wheatgrass has numerous uses such as purifying the blood boosting your imune system helping maintain your bodies healthy weight, providing the vitamins and minerals your body needs etc . It can be purchased at a Whole Foods store and I would suggest using the frozen ice cube version from Evergreen. If you ever just need to talk or someone to listen to i'm here girl!

hey thanks for answering! i am definitely interested in the things you suggested and will look into it. especially the wheatgrass juice, which i have never heard of. seems interesting. oh yeah, and i really need to learn how to meditate properly...it's a lot harder than it seems but it seems like it does a lot of good, so i will try.

    thanks for the tips

Oddly enough a Nun (Sister Ann Marie) first taught me how to meditate. She told me when you first start to sit in a comfortable chair where you arms can rest or relax to pick a two part word like fa-ther or mo-ther what ever one first enters your mind. Then close your eyes and concentrate on that word. Breath in concentrating on the first part of the word and out concentrating on the second part of the word. Clear your mind of everything else besides that word. You can visualize the word in your mind what ever it takes but only think about that word nothing else. Steady breathing and the word
