My daughter started getting her peiod when she was 11 and a half, the first couple were around a week, and after that they have lasted anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, she is on her third week this time. Of course she is embarrassed and doesn't want anybody to know, or me to talk to a DR. I can't remember mine ever being that way when they started, but did have problems all my life until a hysterctomy a few years ago. Is this normal? Should I talk to a pediatrician? thanks Jo

Hi.I am 24 years old.I started my period when I was 13.When I first started mine and especially when I was 14 and 15 my periods were very heavy and sometimes lasted more than 20 days.I remember alot of girls in gym talking about this, too, and apparently I wasn't the only one having this problem.I hope this helps.Have a good night.
