Every woman is different, and unfortunately for your friend, what she is experiencing, although unusual, is fairly normal. She should talk to her doctor about it. If it's really bad, birth control pills can ease the pain and lighten her period considerably, but she might want to try and see how she manages without for a while. It could possibly lighten up on its own after a few months. Tell her to drink lots of water before and during her period. This could help with the brown colour and the pains.

age 14 and 9 days is not so uncommon if she has irregular periods. She may need BC to regulate her period.

as for the pain its best to avoid large amounts of sugar and caffine.

Her body may just be trying to clean itself out, however, I think she should go get checked out just to be safe. Unfortunately honey, all you can do is give her your recommendations. I know at that age, things can be rather embarrassing and the last thing she probably wants to do is tell her mom and go to the Dr for it, but it's not a bad idea.

I got my period when I was 9 years old and the first time and every single time I got it I had it for 8days!!!! It was very heavy...some times people (now a days) take BC pills just to reduce bleeding and frequency of their periods.
As Kat says everyone is different and its just her body...stress changes periods, environment can change your period, your diet can have an effect on it...there are many different factors...Since she is young it might not be regulated as of yet. She just has to grin and bear it....its normal and its ok
