I was prescribed birth control pills in August.

I got my period on August 6th. I got no period in September. My doctor wanted me to take a hpt, so I did & it was negative. She faxed a blood work prescription to the lab & the day I was supposed to get my blood drawn (Friday), I started bleeding. It was VERY light. Not even heavy enough to use a tampon. I tried to use a tampon & it hurt to even have it in, so I took it out. There was only brown blood on the pad, also.

What could the problem possibly be? It's almost 100% that I'm NOT pregnant (the last time I had unprotected sex was June 26th & I've had 2 periods since then). And also, should I start the pills today? Or should I consult my gyno? Should I go do the blood test? Is it even possible that I'm pregnant? If I don't start the pills today, I'll have to wait until next month. Does anyone have any input at all?
