Default Weird Spotting?

Hi there,

I'm writing here because I'm pretty concerned about my girlfriend, and she isn't the type who welcomes a trip to the doctor. She's been having some strange spotting for about three months now, and I'm starting to get worried.

It started in August. She had taken Plan B, and then a few months later, she started bleeding while we were having sex. After a week or so, I finally convinced her to go to her OBGYN and the bleeding was ruled out as hormonal bleeding due to the Plan B pill.

However, in September, she started spotting all of a sudden again. Her period wasn't due for another 10-14 days, so we both found it pretty strange. After two weeks or so, she finally got her period, accompanied by some really painful cramps.

Things went fine before her period in October, but then she started spotting about a week after her period.

Each of those times, we had sex about a few days before. Am I right in assuming that the odds of her being pregnant are low? We had sex about 4 days after her period ended, and she started spotting another 5 days after we had sex. From what I've read, the timing seems off.

What could be causing the bleeding? I'm really, really worried.

Is she on any type of birth control? Or has she just started birth control pills? I know when you first start it can cause you to spot for a few months until your body adjusts to it. But if she isn't on any type of birth control she might benefit from it. The BC can help regulate it. If she has any ovarian cysts it can cause spotting too and the BC will help reduce those. If painful cramps aren't the norm for her she needs to be checked again and probably put on birth control pills if she isn't already. Please keep us updated

gingersnaps2002 - She isn't on any type of birth control. If it helps to give any other details, the spotting usually ends after two or three days. She also got a routine checkup with her OBGYN in September. Would ovarian cysts have shown up in a routine check-up?
