Hey All! I'm brand new here and wanted ask a few questions about some symptoms I've been experiencing lately. This seems like a great forum, so I hope a few of you out there can offer some guidance or similar experiences!
I'm 25 and have been experiencing a slew of menstrual/vaginal issues for the past 9 months. I began taking Yaz at the beginning of September also. Here's what's been going on:
Vaginal stinging, pain, burning - mostly at the end of my period, but also random throughout my cycle
Urinary frequency and occasional burning - not often, but still noticeable
Itchy, prickly skin all over - usually occurs shortly after my period ends
Painful ovulation, especially the lower left side of my pelvis, also with lower back pain - still occurs at my usual ovulation time, even after being on Yaz for 3 months
Hot flashes - usually happen the week before my period
Severe tension headaches - during the last few days of my period
More recently:
Pelvic pain/lower back pain - a few hours or the day after sex and also at the end of my period
Heavier bleeding - noticed this began after starting on Yaz
I was diagnosed with GHSV-1 in late March, had only one outbreak and currently take Valtrex daily as a precaution. I've been reassured by 4 doctors that my symptoms aren't related to having herpes, so I'm kind of lost as to what all of this could be. I've been to my primary care doctors, gyno and a vaginitis specialist. I was told I have "vaginal dermatitis" and am currenly using steroid ointment, which does help a little. I've also been repeatedly treated for yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. Treatments either don't work at all or offer a short period of relief, but the vaginal symptoms seem to always return shortly after. All STD tests (aside from herpes, obviously) are negative.
Could this be something hormonal? Endometriosis? Cysts? I'm starting to lose hope, as no doctor seems to take me seriously enough to do anything other than tell me it's in my head or throw some yeast/BV meds at me over and over. They're making me feel like I'm crazy. Has anyone else gone through something like this?
Sorry this was so long! Thank you for reading.![]()
I haven't had any of those but yeast before. How is your pH? Do your doctors ever monitor it and advise you to keep it balance (and how to do it)?
