I have a non-hormonal IUD, on it's 7th year. I was dx'ed with PCOS years ago, although I never had an issue with cysts, but had all the other symptoms. I took metformin for years, but it messed up my stomach so I no longer take it. I have a 7 year old DD.
My cycles are fairly regular, but with the IUD they're a bit closer together. I never had many cramps so the added cramps with the IUD were never really an issue either, rarely happened. 2 years ago I had 3 periods in a month. The OBGYN thought maybe I got an infection and it traveled up the string, but couldn't find anyting during the exam. I've had most of my periods in the past couple years start with brownish discharge, start off light, end heavy. I figured it was the IUD.
This month I felt like I was getting a yeast infection, used the topical stuff they give you along with the yeast infection meds that was leftover, ate yogurt, and started my period before I got the medicine. My uterus felt a little off/not normal during these couple days. When I started, I started heavy, and I'm now on day 8 of it being heavier than normal. I have had pain in what I think is my ovary area on the right side on and off. Sometimes pretty bad, have taken some advil to function. The pain has gotten better but not gone away entirely.
Obviously not enough pain for a popped cyst. I've been reading stuff online but nothing seems to fit right. I do have a physical already set for the 21st so I'll go over all this, but right now my long heavy period is bugging me. And I'm not overly stressed, could lose a few pounds but withing "normal" weight range, not taking anything hormonal. Any thoughts?
Have you ever had a laproscopy to confirm any diagnosis of any problems or scans? I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis last year through laproscopy after MANY years of extremely heavy and painful periods. The symptoms sounds similar to the pain I get now since they burnt some of the endometriosis lesions. I get pains in the particular spots where they were burnt with my periods. Maybe its just where the IUD is planted in your uterus thats causing you troubles.
