We have planned to go on a trip with some of my friends, this weekend, and this time my Girlfriend is also coming. She is not in the perfect health condition. Yesterday and also day before yesterday I took her to a doctor and to get medical check-ups and reports. So I suggest that she stay and rest, and I wouldn't go on the trip if she is not coming. But she really wants to go on the trip.

And today morning she called me and said that she forgot to postpone it, and it has started. I was shocked and then she explained me that her menstruation started. As she told me before, she gets extreme pain when having menstruation and that is one reason I took her to see a doctor last week.

We will be travelling about 100km and it would be much cold there where we are going. I don't know what I should do and what I should not do when she is having menstruation. I just want to keep her happy and relaxed and not to make her mode down. So what are DOs & DON'Ts...

Your talking about now, right now, the trip, not the future, I figure they will advise, birth control will / may be mentioned even if you are Virgins to help with the pain, I remember SO WELL.

A wheat/heat bag for her tummy, but you have to have a microwave and heat it for 2 and a half minutes... if not warm enough another 60 seconds, that will help.

Make sure she has warm clothes.

And, make sure she has warm cuddles

She prefers to be with you and suffer than be on her own, she trusts you and wants you to be around her and I don't blame her, what a great guy you are

If they have those sticky heat pads at the store there, those are great. Midol too. And a nice blanket.

Heat doesn't help everyone. My uterus goes nuts with heat. In fact I can't lay in bed with my laptop during my period which is very frustrating. If I do then pressure will start to build and as soon as I move I have horrible contractions that leave me curled up in bed recovering and letting my lower half cool and calm down before I can get up. I actually put cold packs down there when the pain gets excessive. Everyone is different.

Stretching can help. There are a few yoga positions that stretch the front of the body. The basic one being to get on your hands and knees as evenly spaced as possible, tip your head back, and push your belly down arching your back. It's a bit painful doing it but you can slowly feel things loosening and it really helps relieve cramps and tension for awhile. Kind of like stretching out a sore muscle. It hurts to move it but it relieves the stiffness and tension so it hurts less for at least a short time. I did a short bit of yoga which overall I found uninteresting but I do occasionally go back to basic stretches when I'm having bad cramps or sore muscles and need to get up and get things done.

Other than that the only other thing I can think of to relieve the physical problem is pain killers. You can tell a doctor the situation and maybe get some low dose hydrocodone that will also have tylenol in it or otc you can buy a few things specifically for menstrual cramps.

Emotionally offer breaks but word it more that you are stopping to view the scenery. I was used to hiking with my akita and we made good time. My husband is a true computer geek and couldn't keep up. We enjoyed lots of scenery and he learned to enjoy hiking despite sore muscles. Make sure she has any chances to use a bathroom to change pads or tampons and if there isn't going to be a chance for such privacy for awhile make sure she knows it. Nothing more embarassing than leaking around your pad while doing physical activity. It's one of the number one worries when you are on your period and doing things like that. Some warm blankets is a good idea and you may want to bring along reheatable or disposable heat pads like mentioned in case they help but also to help prevent cold. Just sticking the hand warmers in your pocket can help keep you warmer especially if you have an inside pocket to your sweat shirt or jacket. What I wouldn't have given for some the one night I went camping in wisconsin in the spring and we hit 40F at night. Luckily small tent and me plus my 80lb dog who decided to sleep on my camping pad instead of hers. We stayed warmer than some other people despite the silly puppy knocking her portable water bowl on my flannel sheets so I was short one of my blankets.
