I just started taking Kariva. If I miss one or two pills I get spotting right away. I am only on to my third pack but is it necessary to take the pill at excatly the same time everyday? Maybe this is why I am spotting. I am not having sex so this is confusing to me. I was using the patch for the last year and this new pill seems to be very sensitive and if I miss just one pill I start spotting. Is this normal?

Since you just started taking it, you need to give your hormones time to balance out. You may experience irregular periods for the first several months. That is normal for many women.

You do not have to take it at exactly the same time every day, but you should take it NEAR the same time every day. So you should pick right before bed or when you wake up in the morning and eat breakfast. Something like that so you will always remember.

If the spotting continues for several months, you might want to try a different brand or dosage to see if you get better results.
