Im 22 years old and overweight and started having irregular periods about 3 years ago after i stopped my bc.I havent had my period for about a year and a half. Ive seen doctors theyve done tests and could not find anything wrong they show no concern for the lack of periods of the fact that im overweight they say its not connected ive been on a diet thats helping with the weight problem, but i am very concerned about the lack of periods. my husband and i want to have children but are afraid that we will not be able to because of this

It is true that excessive weight can really cause problems with menstrual cycles. I think the best thing in your situation would be to really take the weight loss serious and do whatever it takes to get the weight down. When it starts interfering with your period, that is a really bad sign. Things will only get worse from there if you don't do something to get healthier. Your period is directly related to growth, hormones, emotion, and so much more. It may not necessarilly do anything terrible to you off hand, but it is certainly not good for you.

So I am guessing they tested your hormone levels too? If all your tests were normal, then the only thing you have left to do is lose weight. Exercize along with your diet and make sure you are on the right kind of diet too (a healthy one).

You cannot get pregnant if you are not having your period.
