I'm new to this site, since I've been wondering what is happening with my body. I'm nearly 37 and since I hit around 35, I've had these enormous hormonal swings right before I begin my period that cause me to have killer headaches that extra strength tylenol and ibuprofen can't even touch. Also, I have a very low threshold for stress and just completely fall apart at the slightest rise in stress level. Thank goodness, it just lasts a day or two. My mother said that she and my grandmother had the same problem begin in their mid-30s (around the time they stopped having children). Does anyone else have this problem? Is there some kind of medication that is recommended that can kind of curb this huge change in hormone levels? If so, I would thank you, and I'm sure my family would thank you!

You might want to go get your hormone levels tested during those elevated times, just to make sure everything is normal.

It is common for a lot of women to have these issues. I am one of those people too. I have seen the doctor several times for it and they kept telling me I must have a chemical imbalance and wanted to put me on anti-depressants (apparantly a cure-all for any form of chemical imbalance). I reluctantly tried them and have to say that I would rather deal with my emotional issues each month. Haha. But that is just my personal opinion. Those things really made me out of it.

There are also some conditions where a woman has extreme PMS. More so then normal. I believe there is treatment for it, but I don't know anything about it and am not sure how they test you for it.

Your best bet would probably be to see your doctor. They may have something to help.
