It sounds like you are just passing blood clots, which is fairly normal.
I ended my period around a week ago, and on Tueday, I started bleeding this weird dark red. I thought I was just spotting a little since I was under some stress, but then it became like a really dark red. Now, it's a dark red, almost black color and it has a metalic scent, but not like a blood smell. When I took a shower, it became pink again, and I thought I just hadn't cleaned it well enogh. It's really dark, and it hasn't let up or became heaveir. My mom said sometimes it happens, but it's starting to freak me out. My friend said it could be an infection. Its clumps together on my pubic hairs, but when I washed it, it didn't smear like blood would.
Whats going on?

Friendship Prayer
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who screws up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch.
Amen
Whoever said anything was possible obviously never tried slamming a revolving door.
About how long do they last?
Maybe a handful of days. There is really hardly ever any rhyme or reason to it. If it lasts into next week, I'd think about getting into the Dr to be looked at.

Ok. Thank you!
The metallic smell could be iron- which is found in blood, along with other parts of your body (which is natural, they are called "trace elements"). It could be "leftovers" from your period. If it's chunky, it could be the lining of your uterus (which is normal to shed during your period, along with blood).
I get those big dark clots all the time... they're thick and have a weird consistency like egg whites or something. I don't think I've ever had a period with just normal red blood, heh.
