Okay, so, on Jan. 28th I went in for foot surgery for a sist that was on top of the bone (which they had to shave -- ow), and they knocked me out for it. Technically, it was only supposed to be a local, but they either gave me too much Anesthetic or I'm sensitive to it. When I got home, I immediately threw up. This was right around the time my period was due.
And, two weeks before that I had the stomach flu -- which was God awful. After I recovered from it, my boyfriend and I had sex using the withdrawal method (not very smart, I know).
Now, I'm two weeks late. But, I've taken two home tests and they turned up negative, and the doctor did a test before I went under and that was negative too. I'm cramping and having minor mood swings, and had brown discharge that I thought was spotting a day ago, but it stopped. I should add in that my cycles came irregularly to begin with.
So, my questions are:
Can surgery and illness cause a skipped period?
If so, should I be having PMS like symptoms?
Does birth control regulate menstrual cycles?
If it does, what brand is best?
