Okay so last month I started spotting on the day that I was suppose to start my period. It was hardly anything, at all! It continued like that for 3 days and then out of no where BAM- heavy awful period. That lasted for like 3 days. My question is - do you use the first day I started spotting as the start day of my period or not? I'm asking because if that is the case I'm 5 days late but if its not then I'm maybe only a few days late. I have just always been confused by that because usually I spot the day before my period and I have never really known if that was the official day I started my period or if I count the day that it is here full throttle. Please if you know the answer it would be greatly appreciated. THANKS !

I'd call the blood flow the start of the period, but I mark the spotting aswell.

I count spotting. If I start spotting, I mark that as the first day of my period and my period isn't over until I'm done spotting.

I found on a website that doctors say that whenever you start to bleed, no matter how little , that is the start day of your period. This means I am 5 DAYS late!!. made me wonder becasue I am never late by that much. I got a test today and it came out negative. Could drinking a TON of fluids make a false negative? Only reason I ask it because I have this addiction to this coffee drink from mcd's and it makes me pee constantly and my urine was very clear when I took the test. Im just pretty confused by this and I could def use some advice. Obviously if my period does not come in the next few days I am going to schedule a dr. apt. I just am wondering what your thoughts are.

Eh - not sure on the false negative, but you should take the pregnancy test first thing in the morning, with your first pee of the day. That is when it is the strongest.

I should have waited til tomorrow. I just couldn't take the wondering any longer. Curiosity killed the cat i guess.

Would be super nice if our bodies could be a little more blunt about some things!
