I had a Mirena fitted mid Jan this year. I understand its normal for things to be unsettled for a while. I have been "bleeding" ever since insertion, I had a normal period and then it continues with brown discharge. Is this right?

My Mirena was fitted for irregular period lasting up to 2 weeks at a time every 2 weeks but they weren't heavy.

I am taking each day as it comes with this IUD as I believe some people get side effects and some don't.

The Mirena literature says that abnormal bleeding is normal for at least 3 months. So yes, what you're having is normal.

I was lucky with my Mirena experience. I had been on continuous oral contraceptives prior to insertion and took them for 1 week after insertion. I had no abnormal bleeding (no spotting, no heavy periods). I've had my Mirena for about 5 months, and I now have VERY light, 7 day periods. I don't even bother with a pad most of my period...just wear dark underwear 'cause there's just that little flow.

What I'm trying to say is give it some time.
