I am new here, so first of all a big hello to everyone...
I have a concern, but i am not sure if this is something normal or if i should be worrying. I am 22 yrs old and have very irregular periods occuring from 2 weeks to 2 months apart. Occasionally i will have an extremely heavy period which 100% completely knocks me off my feet for the first two days, with killer cramps and pain and exhaustion, enough to make me physically ill and unable to work or function whatsoever. Other times i have a period so light, i'm not even sure it qualifies as a period. I've never had a clockwork period and i'm worried that this irregularity may make it difficult for me to have children when the time comes, or pose other health problems eventually.... Am i being crazy or should this be a serious concern? Thanks for all input in advance..
you might want to talk to your doctor about this... but i think birth control may help you get regular. my period started to get crazy and after a month it was back to normal.
Yea, if I were you, I'd go see a doctor. I've had the same type of problems since I first got my period around 12yrs old. I don't have a serious medical condition, but my chances of becoming pregnant without the aide of medicine, is slim to none. I have annovulation, where I don't ovulate as much as other women, and I don't get my periods as much as other women do either. Sometimes my periods will only last for a few days and my flow is so light, it's almost non-existant. But then, like you, there are times where I get my period, and the first few days of it, I need to be in bed, because I'm bleeding so bad, and it hurts so much to move. I've begun to chart my periods, something I never bothered with before. My last period lasted for about 10 days, and I'm waiting to see how long it will be before I get it again, could be a few weeks, could be a few months. But, most of the time, I would say that irregular periods are just caused by too much estrogen, which could be because an individual is over-weight. Even the slightest bit, and that can cause your periods to be all over the map. Just visit with the OB/Gyn, get some basic tests done, and he'll be able to tell you what's going on... That way, if it's not so serious, you can take care of it, and be able to have children in the future. That's what I did, and now I know what I need to do, in order to make that happen for me and my boyfriend. Good luck!
