Thread: Confusion with my cycle

Hi.
I am just wanting to know if anyone can help me understand my cycle!?!? My cycle has changed from being extremely regular to just weird over the past 5 months.
I am experiencing about 2-5 days of brownish discharge, followed by 2-3 days of full bleeding, and then sometimes some more brownish discharge for a couple of days afterwards.
I was always told that your period has started when the full bleeding does, but I am not so sure now, because there seems to be a more consistent schedule with the brownish discharge occuring approx. every 27-28 days, unlike the full bleeding! Can someone please tell me if my period starts when the full bleeding does, or when the brownish discharge does?

Every woman is different. My period is the same way that yours is, with the dark/light stuff at the beginning for a few days, then about 3 heavier days, and then a few days of darker/lighter bleeding. I count from the first day of the dark/lighter bleeding. I used to get the heavy bleeding on day one when I was younger. But I guess as you mature your body changes, and that includes your periods. You can't really use another womans menstrual experience as a guide to follow...what's normal for her may not be normal for you.
